Hunter Wessells MD, FACS
Professor and Nelson Chair of Urology, University of Washington, Seattle, WashingtonHunter Wessells is a surgeon, researcher and expert on urogenital trauma, reconstructive surgery, and erectile dysfunction. Professor and Chair of the Department of Urology at the University of Washington School of Medicine, Dr. Wessells is also President of UW Physicians, the practice plan for UW Medicine. He has served in professional and government advisory positions including the NIH Renal and Urological Sciences Study Section, Chair of the American Urological Association Guidelines Panel on Male Urethral Stricture,and member of the American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma. Dr. Wessells is Program Director of a Fellowship in GU Trauma and Reconstruction and the UW's AUA Physician Scientist Research Training Award. He leads research funded by NIH investigating the risk factors and genetic susceptibility to erectile dysfunction and novel therapies for kidney stone disease.
An avid outdoors sportsman, Dr. Wessells rows a single shell, plays tennis with his family, and enjoys open water swimming in the Puget Sound. He also maintains an organic vegetable garden.
