Nina F. Schor MD, PhD
Deputy Director for Intramural Research, National Institutes of Health, Bethesda, MarylandDr. Nina F. Schor is Deputy Director for Intramural Research of the National Institutes of Health. Prior to her current role, she served as Deputy Director of NINDS (National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke) and, prior to joining NINDS, Dr. Schor was the Carol Ann Craumer Professor of Pediatric Research, Chief of the Division of Child Neurology in the Department of Pediatrics, and Associate Dean for Medical Student Research at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine.
Dr. Schor received her PhD in medical biochemistry from Rockefeller University in 1980 and her MD from Cornell University Medical College in 1981. She pursued residency training in pediatrics at Boston Children’s Hospital (1981–1983) and in child neurology at the Longwood Area-Harvard Neurology Program (1983–1986). While in residency, she also pursued a postdoctoral fellowship in the laboratory of Dr. Manfred Karnovsky at Harvard. During this time, she began her studies of neuroblastoma, aimed at understanding the neurobiology of this tumor and exploiting this understanding to design and test in preclinical models novel strategies for the therapy of chemoresistant neuroblastoma.
Dr. Schor continues to serve as a Neurology Director for the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.
