Steck Chair of Clinical Dermatology, and Staff Physician, Dermatology and Pathology, Cleveland Clinic, Cleveland, OhioAnthony P. Fernandez, MD, PhD, completed his dermatology residency at the University of Miami, Florida and a dermatopathology fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic. He is currently a staff physician at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio where he practices both medical dermatology and dermatopathology and serves as Director of medical and inpatient dermatology and the W.D. Steck Chair of Clinical Dermatology. He is also Co-Medical Director of Continuing Medical Education at the Cleveland Clinic and Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine at the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine.
Clinically, he specializes in treatment of systemic autoimmune and inflammatory diseases with prominent cutaneous involvement. His research interests mirror his clinical interests, with ongoing projects involving psoriasis, dermatomyositis, lupus erythematosus, cutaneous vasculitis and pemphigus vulgaris. He is also active in a variety of national professional organizations, such as the American Academy of Dermatology, the Americans Society of Dermatopathology, and the Rheumatologic Dermatology Society. He currently serves on the editorial board for the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology and Healio’s Dermatology and Psoriasis Peer Perspective Boards.
