Adverse Ocular Impact and Emerging Therapeutic Potential of Cannabis and Cannabinoids
TAKE-HOME MESSAGE
- The authors review the adverse ocular effects of cannabis and cannabinoids and the available research on their use for conditions including blepharospasm, pterygia, diabetic retinopathy, and glaucoma. They conclude that there is no compelling evidence to support the primary use of cannabinoids for the treatment of any ocular pathology, including glaucoma, and, in fact, the use of cannabinoids can result in significant side effects.
- This is a useful review of the evidence regarding the use of "medical marijuana" for ocular conditions, including glaucoma.
