Tate M. Johnson MD
Assistant Professor, Division of Rheumatology & Immunology, University of Nebraska Medical Center, VA Nebraska-Western Iowa Health Care System, Omaha, NebraskaDr. Johnson is a rheumatologist and clinician-investigator with an interest in improving outcomes related to extra-articular manifestations of rheumatoid arthritis, in particular cardiovascular disease. His long-term goal is to elucidate novel mechanisms of cardiovascular disease burden in rheumatoid arthritis to improve the prediction, prevention, and management of cardiovascular risk in this population. He receives research funding from the Rheumatology Research Foundation and is currently pursuing a PhD in Clinical and Translational Research through the Mentored Scholars Program at UNMC. Clinically, Dr. Johnson treats patients with all rheumatic diseases, with a particular focus in inflammatory arthritis. He frequently incorporates the use of musculoskeletal ultrasound into the diagnosis and management of his patients. Dr. Johnson is interested in education, with an active role in fellowship training as well as the education of medical students and residents. He is involved in several national committees through the American College of Rheumatology and Ultrasound School of North American Rheumatologists.
