Shelly Luu, MD, PhD, is a senior General Surgery resident at the University of Toronto, Canada. She earned her BSc from University of Ottawa, Canada, where she received the University Gold Medal, and MD from University of Toronto. During her residency, she completed her PhD studies in molecular oncology and gastric cancer under the supervision of Dr. Carol Swallow; her dissertation was entitled “FAM46C/TENT5C is a Tumour Suppressor in Gastric Adenocarcinoma”.

Dr. Luu’s research interests include cancer biomarkers, general surgical oncology, and medical education. Her research has previously been recognized with best paper/presentation awards by the International Gastric Cancer Congress, Canadian Society of Surgical Oncology, and Association for Surgical Education.
