Cotler is Professor in the Department of Medicine, Stritch School of Medicine–Loyola University Chicago, and the Division Director of Hepatology at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, Illinois. He divides his time between a busy clinical practice and clinical and translational research. His research focuses on viral hepatitis, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, and hepatocellular carcinoma.
Dr. Cotler is a graduate of the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine and completed his internship and residency at the University of Chicago. He completed a fellowship in gastroenterology at Rush Medical Center in Chicago and a fellowship in transplant hepatology at the University of Washington in Seattle.
