Sandra Guzmán-Armstrong DDS, MS
Clinical Professor and Advanced Education Program Co-Director, College of Dentistry & Dental Clinics, University of Iowa, Iowa City, IowaDr. Guzmán-Armstrong joined the Department of Operative Dentistry in 2001 after completing her dental degree from the Javeriana University in Bogotá, Colombia and then completing her master’s degree at the University Of Iowa College Of Dentistry. She holds the position of Clinical Professor in the Department of Operative Dentistry at the University of Iowa.
Dr. Sandra Guzmán-Armstrong is the director of the Operative Advanced Education Program. Also teaches in the Sophomore and Junior Courses in the area of cariology, minimal invasive dentistry and Esthetic Dentistry.
Dr Guzmán-Armstrong teaching, clinical and research interest relates primarily to caries management in adults. She is also interested in integrating critical thinking and clinical decision making methods to improve the education of dental students. She is involved developing methods to integrate Evidence Base Dentistry into the dental curriculum to prepare the students to improve the oral health care of the community and support their decision making process. She is founder and treasurer of the American Academy of Cariology.
