Assistant Professor, University of Toronto, Clinician-Scientist, Peter Munk Cardiac Centre at University Health Network, Toronto, Canada

Dr. Lawler is a cardiac critical care physician and clinician-scientist at the Peter Munk Cardiac Centre, Toronto General Hospital, where is Associate Director for the Clinical Trials and Translation Unit. He is also an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Cardiology and Interdepartmental Division of Critical Care Medicine at the University of Toronto. His research interests lie at the intersection of acute cardiovascular disorders and systemic critical illness, and employ clinical trials, clinical epidemiology, and translational methods. He has led several international Bayesian adaptive randomized clinical trials in acutely/critically ill patients, and supported the design and implementation of others. His work has been funded by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, the U.S. National Institutes of Health, and others, and has been published in JACC, the New England Journal of Medicine, JAMA, the European Heart Journal, Circulation, Intensive Care Medicine, Critical Care Medicine, and elsewhere.
