Nara Michaelson MD
Multiple Sclerosis and Neuroimmunology Fellow, Mass General Brigham, Boston, MassachusettsNara Michaelson, MD, is currently a Multiple Sclerosis and Neuroimmunology Fellow at Mass General Brigham in Boston, Massachusetts. She completed her adult neurology residency at New York Presbyterian/Weill Cornell and Memorial Sloan Kettering in New York, New York. Originally from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, she moved to the east coast to attend the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and majored in brain & cognitive sciences. After undergrad, she did research at Brigham & Women's Hospital, studying the role of T regulatory cells in multiple sclerosis. She attended Dartmouth Medical School, where she was the President of the Student Interest Group in Neurology (SIGN) chapter. Nara is passionate about teaching and studying all aspects of neurology, with specific interests in multiple sclerosis and other inflammatory conditions of the central nervous system. Currently, she is researching imaging biomarkers to further explore the biological mechanisms underlying inflammatory lesions. Her other interests include promoting the use of narrative medicine. She has published several short stories and created podcasts for the Journal of Academic Medicine and has written poetry for the Journal of Academic Psychiatry.
Disclosures
Under a program agreement between MGH and Biogen, Dr. Michaelson spends approximately half of her time working at Biogen training in the area of therapeutics development. Biogen pays a portion of her salary to MGH for the time she works there. Dr. Michaelson’s interests were reviewed and are managed by MGH and Mass General Brigham in accordance with their conflict of interest policies.
