Mio Nakamura, MD, MS, FAAD, is an Assistant Professor and the Director of the Program for Clinical Research in Dermatology in the Department of Dermatology, University of Michigan. She is also the Associate Medical Director of the University of Michigan Clinical Trials Support Unit. She obtained her medical degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit, MI. She then completed a clinical research fellowship at the University of California San Francisco, conducting psoriasis clinical research, prior to completing her dermatology residency at the University of Michigan. She also holds a Master’s degree in Clinical Research Design and Statistical Analysis from the University of Michigan School of Public Health. Dr. Nakamura’s clinical and research interests include chronic inflammatory and autoimmune skin conditions such as psoriasis, atopic dermatitis, prurigo nodularis, cutaneous lupus, and bullous pemphigoid. She conducts sponsored and investigator-initiated clinical trials in these disease states. She also has an interest in psychodermatology, including the negative impact of skin diseases on mental health and navigating difficult dermatology patients such as those who have personality disorders or delusional disorders.
