Michael W. Rich, M.D., is Professor of Medicine and Cardiology at the Washington University School of Medicine, and Director of the Cardiac Rapid Evaluation Unit at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.  Since completing his Cardiology Fellowship in 1984, Dr. Rich’s primary research focus has been the prevention and treatment of cardiovascular disease in the aging population.  Dr. Rich has participated in numerous investigator-initiated and multi-center clinical trials involving older cardiac patients, and he has published extensively on heart failure disease management, coronary heart disease, atrial fibrillation, and cardiovascular risk reduction in older adults.  He is an internationally recognized expert in geriatric cardiovascular disease, and he is past president of the Society of Geriatric Cardiology.  He currently serves as Associate Editor for the American Journal of Medicine and the Journal of the American Geriatrics Society. Dr. Rich received the Edward Henderson Award from the American Geriatrics Society in 2014 and the Distinguished Service Award from the American College of Cardiology in 2015.
