Louis Probst MD
As National Medical Director of TLC Laser Eye Centers, the largest laser vision correction group in the United States, Dr. Probst is one of the most experienced surgeons in the United States. Over 16 years, Dr. Probst has performed over 100,000 LASIK procedures, given over 200 lectures and provides training to surgeons and eye doctors at refractive surgery conferences throughout the world. He has published over 50 articles in peer-reviewed journals and 80 book chapters on refractive surgery. Dr. Probst co-authored the reference textbook titled LASIK: Advances, Controversies, and Custom, used by eye care professionals worldwide. As a leader in LASIK, he developed several instruments specifically for LASIK procedures.
Dr. Probst performs all aspects of refractive surgery - LASIK for myopia, hyperopia, and astigmatism, as well as PRK. Dr. Probst strives to make the laser vision correction experience as pleasant as possible for each patient. His extensive experience and genuine concern for each patient is demonstrated through his confident, calm, and compassionate demeanor.
Dr. Probst completed residency training in Ophthalmology at the University of Western Ontario where he received four awards from his peers for outstanding achievement. He was selected from among ophthalmologists across North America for a surgical fellowship in corneal transplantation and refractive surgery at the University of Minnesota. The fellowship included training with world leaders in cornea and refractive surgery and treating patients from across the world with complex corneal conditions.
Prior to the US FDA approval of laser vision correction in 1996, Dr. Probst began performing LASIK in Canada. He has since relocated to the United States and performed over 100,000 LASIK procedures over the last 16 years using the best lasers available in the world, including the VISX Star S4 CustomVue and the IntraLase iFS femtosecond lasers.
