Senior Director of Translational Research and Applied Science, Tandem Diabetes Care; Assistant Clinical Professor of Pediatrics, Barbara Davis Center, University of Colorado, Aurora, ColoradoLaurel Messer, PhD, MPH, RN, CDCES, is the Senior Director of Translational Research and Applied Science at Tandem Diabetes Care. She is a leader in the Behavioral Science division which strives to represent the voice of the humans for which Tandem. Dr. Messer is also an Assistant Clinical Professor of Pediatrics at the Barbara Davis Center for Diabetes, University of Colorado School of Medicine. She has specialized in the care of youth and young adults with Type 1 Diabetes for 18 years as a clinical scientist, nurse, and Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist. In her academic role, she has served as a research investigator and clinical educator for diabetes technology trials including CGM, insulin pumps, and automated insulin delivery systems. Dr. Messer has authored over 70 publications related to diabetes, and lectures/teaches on diabetes technology at universities, hospitals, and national and international conferences. Dr. Messer also founded the PANTHERProgram (http://PANTHERprogram.org, “Diabetes Technology. Deciphered”) , a website for persons with diabetes and healthcare professionals who want to engage with diabetes technology.
