Kirou is a rheumatologist at Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) and also serves on the staff of New York Presbyterian Hospital (Cornell) and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. He is the director of the Lupus Nephritis Program at HSS and Co-chief of the Lupus Clinic at HSS. He conducts clinical trials in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and lupus nephritis. He also serves as the Principal Investigator (PI) at HSS for the Lupus Clinical Investigators Network (LuCIN). He is also part of the Lupus Nephritis Trials Network (LNTN). He has conducted translational work on the role of Type I IFN in SLE pathogenesis, as a member of Dr Mary Crow’s Lab at HSS. Dr. Kirou is an Associate Professor of Clinical Medicine at Weill Cornell Medicine.
