Josefin Särnholm, PhD, is a licensed psychologist and researcher who holds a faculty position at the Department of Clinical Neuroscience, Division of Psychology, Karolinska Institutet in Stockholm, Sweden. Dr. Särnholm has developed of a novel cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) treatment for atrial fibrillation (AF). Her pioneering work includes conducting the world's first randomized controlled trial of CBT for AF. Dr. Särnholm's research focuses on the development of scalable treatments that target fear-based behaviors and psychological mechanisms in cardiovascular disease. She is currently leading several clinical studies investigating the efficacy of CBT for various cardiovascular conditions. In addition to her research role, Dr. Särnholm is a clinical lecturer in psychology at Karolinska Institutet.
