He graduated from the University of California at Berkeley with a degree in Molecular Biology and Genetics and received his medical degree at the McGill University Faculty of Medicine. He completed his internal medicine residency at Columbia University Medical Center and his Gastroenterology/Hepatology fellowship at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Karlitz's clinical and research interests focus on hereditary GI cancer syndromes, early-onset colorectal cancer and GI cancer screening. He is a former Steering Committee member of the National Colorectal Cancer Roundtable, one of the core cancer roundtables of the American Cancer Society.
