Dr. de Boer is Professor of Medicine, Director of the Kidney Research Institute, Joseph W. Eschbach MD Endowed Chair in Kidney Research, and Adjunct Professor of Epidemiology at the University of Washington in Seattle, WA. He is also a staff nephrologist at the Puget Sound Veterans Affairs Healthcare System, where he cares for patients with a broad range of acute and chronic kidney diseases. Dr. de Boer’s research focuses on the causes and consequences of diabetic kidney disease. He has published over 400 manuscripts in this field. Dr. de Boer has also helped translate research to clinical care through clinical practice guidelines, including the American Diabetes Association Standards of Medical Care in Diabetes (as a member of the ADA Professional Practice Committee) and the KDIGO Clinical Practice Guideline on Diabetes and CKD (as Co-Chair).
