General Dentist, Kucey Dental Group, Edmonton, Alberta, CanadaDr. Elena Hernandez-Kucey, graduated in dental hygiene (Miami-Dade Community College) and dentistry (University of Southern California Dental School). Her faculty appointments include the Department of Periodontics at Miami-Dade Dental Hygiene College (1986) and University of Southern California School of Dentistry (1982-1986), and as part-time clinical instructor and sessional lecturer in periodontics, pediatric dentistry and implant dentistry at the University of Alberta Faculty of Dentistry (1987-2020). In 2017 she co-authored the chapter “Peri-Implant Diseases” with Dr. Brian Kucey in “Evidence-based Implant Treatment Planning and Clinical Protocols” edited by Dr. Steven Sadowsky. She is President of the Edmonton and District Dental Society, coordinator for Alberta Implant Seminar, a didactic and clinical implant and restorative study group, President-Elect for the Canadian Association of Women in Dentistry and is Chair of NorQuest 1000 Women One Million Possibilities charity. Elena practices full-time as a general dentist in Edmonton in a group practice with her prosthodontist husband and general dentist daughter. She has advanced neuromodulator training for facial esthetic and adjunctive myofascial pain and dysfunction treatment including lower face dermal fillers and routinely includes these modalities in her periodontics, restorative and implant dentistry private practice.
