Edoardo Mannucci MD
Associate Professor of Endocrinology, University of Florence, Italy; Head, Unit of Diabetes and Metabolic Diseases, Careggi Teaching Hospital, Florence, ItalyDr. Edoardo Mannucci was born in Prato, Italy, in 1965. He graduated as Medical Doctor in 1990 and obtained his specialty in Endocrinology in 1995, at the University of Florence Medical School. He worked as a contract researcher at the Metabolic Section of the Endocrinology Unit of the Careggi hospital of the University of Florence, and then as Consultant Diabetologist at the Diabetes Section of the Geriatric Unit of the same hospital.
Since 2009, he is the Director of the Diabetology Unit of Careggi teaching hospital in Florence. He has been member of the Scientific Board of the Italian Society of Diabetology and of the National Boards of the Italian Obesity Society and of the Italian Society for the Study of Eating Disorders.
He has authored more than 250 papers on International peer-reviewed journals. His research activities have included several different fields related to diabetes, such as eating behavior and psychological aspects of diabetes and obesity, physiology of the incretin axis, and erectile dysfunction and male hypogonadism in metabolic diseases. More recently, his research has been focused on pharmacological treatments for type 2 diabetes.
