Connie Newman MD, MACP, FAHA
Adjunct Professor, Department of Medicine, Holman Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism, New York University School of Medicine, New York, New YorkDr. Connie Newman is an endocrinologist and Adjunct Professor of Medicine at New York University Grossman School of Medicine. She is a consultant to the FDA and recently served for six years on the FDA Endocrine and Metabolic Drugs Advisory Committee. She is Past President of the American Medical Women’s Association.
Dr. Newman has expertise in cholesterol management, statin safety, diabetes, obesity medicine, and large long term randomized controlled clinical trials. She is a member of the Cholesterol Treatment Trialists Collaboration and continues to work with other investigators on patient level meta-analyses of data from the large cardiovascular outcome trials of statins.
Dr. Newman chaired the Writing Committees for the Endocrine Society Clinical Practice Guideline on dyslipidemia in endocrine disorders, and the American Heart Association Scientific Statement on statin safety.
