Chandrika Kurpad MS, LCGC
Cancer genetic counselor, Massachusetts General Hospital Center for Cancer Risk Assessment, MGH Cancer Center, Boston, MAMs. Kurpad is a licensed and certified genetic counselor at the Center for Cancer Risk Assessment (CCRA) at Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston, seeing patients in both the breast/ovarian and gastrointestinal cancer genetics clinics. At the CCRA, she guides clients and providers through genetic risk assessment and the genetic testing process, with the goal of helping to translate medical history, family history, and genetic test results into an actionable plan for individuals and families. Her research interests include family communication and the uptake of cascade testing.
After earning a master’s degree in microbiology and immunology from Indiana University, she worked in cancer research for several years. She completed a master’s degree program in genetic counseling at the University of Alabama at Birmingham; afterwards, she worked as a genetic counselor at the Bruno Cancer Center at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Birmingham, before joining CCRA.
