Bo Wang MD, PhD
Ophthalmology Resident, Wilmer Eye Institute, Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, MarylandDr. Bo Wang, MD, PhD, received his Bachelor of Science degree in Bioengineering at the University of Pittsburgh. As an undergraduate, he worked on designing intraoperative optical imaging (Optical Coherence Tomography) devices, which is what initially drew him to the field of ophthalmology. He earned his medical and graduate degrees at the University of Pittsburgh, where he worked with Dr. Joel S. Schuman on optic nerve head imaging in glaucoma. His Ph.D. work focused on assessing how glaucoma affects the lamina cribrosa, a collagenous meshwork in the optic nerve head through which all retinal ganglion cell axons pass on their way to the brain. He completed an internal medicine internship at Allegheny General Hospital and is currently an ophthalmology resident at the Wilmer Eye Institute.
