Benedetta Demartini MD, PhD

After studying human medicine, she specialized in psychiatry at the University of Milan. She spent a year of her training at the Institute of Psychiatry, UCL in London, where she developed a specific interest in FND. During her PhD in Molecular and Translational Medicine and three years of post-doc fellowship, including a year as a research associate at the Clinical Education and Health Psychology Department, UCL in London, she developed her main line of research on the neurobiology of FND. Back in Milan, she developed and managed one of the first Italian interdisciplinary outpatient clinic for patients with FND, at San Paolo hospital. With its clinical and research activities, she is part of a well-established national and international network. For her research work, she has won several prizes and research grants.
