Dr. Ayokunle T. Abegunde is an Associate Professor of Medicine at Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine in Maywood, Illinois. He focuses his clinical and educational efforts on the diagnosis and management of patients with gastrointestinal diseases. His research interests include microscopic colitis and the gut microbiome, specifically Clostridioides difficile (C difficile) and fecal microbiota transplantation.

Dr. Abegunde is a reviewer for several journals and is a member of the American Gastroenterology Association Academy of Educators. He is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians, a Fellow of the American College of Gastroenterology, and he serves on the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy ARIA committee.

After receiving his medical degree from the University of Lagos College of Medicine, Dr. Abegunde completed residency training at the John H Stroger Jr Hospital of Cook County and fellowship training at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center.
