Anika Bilal, MD, is a postdoctoral research scientist at AdventHealth Research Institute (AHRI) in Orlando, Florida. She earned her medical degree (MD) from Lahore, Pakistan. After practicing internal medicine for 11 years in Pakistan, Dr. Bilal joined the diabetes team at AdventHealth Translational Research Institute, Orlando, Florida. Her research focuses on hypoglycemia and impaired awareness of hypoglycemia in type 1 diabetes with special interest in role of latest diabetes technology in preventing diabetic complications. Another area of her research interest includes the role of adjunctive diabetes medications in people with type 1 diabetes and the effects of newer antihyperglycemic drugs in older adults with type 2 diabetes.
