Amy McQueen, PhD, is Professor of Medicine and Director of the Graduate Program in Applied Health Behavior Research at Washington University in St. Louis, School of Medicine and Co-Director of the Health Communication Research Lab in the Brown School.

Dr. McQueen has applied her expertise in social psychology and public health to the development, implementation, and evaluation of behavioral interventions designed to increase individuals’ preventive behaviors such as cancer screening and smoking cessation. She seeks to examine the causal mechanisms underlying the inter-relations between health behaviors and cognitive, psychosocial, and environmental determinants. She has used both qualitative and quantitative research methods in tandem and sequential study designs.

She also has experience collaborating with non-university research partners and conducting research with diverse clinical and community participants, particularly from low-income populations.
