Cutaneous Oncology Clinical Research Senior Fellow, University of Washington, Division of Dermatology, Seattle, WashingtonDr. Allene Fonseca is currently a Cutaneous Oncology Clinical Research Senior Fellow with a focus on Merkel cell carcinoma for Dr. Paul Nghiem at the University of Washington, Division of Dermatology in Seattle, Washington. She will be starting her dermatology residency at Wayne State University in Dearborn, Michigan in the near future. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Public Health Science at the University of California, Irvine in Irvine, California. She then earned her medical degree from Michigan State University College of Human Medicine in East Lansing, MI. She completed her residency in internal medicine at Loma Linda University Medical Center in Loma Linda, California. She is Board Certified in Internal Medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine. She completed a Dermato-epidemiology fellowship with a focus in teledermatology at Brown University, Providence VA Medical Center in Providence, Rhode Island.
She has held many leadership roles including being the president of her medical school Student Council, a leader in the Student National Medical Association, and a Chief Wellness Resident for her Internal Medicine Residency Program. She has published work in the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology, the Journal of Investigative Dermatology, the International Journal of Women’s Dermatology, Telemedicine and E-Health, the American Journal of Dermatopathology, Current Dermatology Reports, and other peer-reviewed journals. Dr. Fonseca is a member of the American College of Physicians and the Skin of Color Society among other professional societies.
