Alexander Valiga MD
Fellow, Micrographic Surgery and Dermatologic Oncology Department of Dermatology, Penn State Health, Hershey, PennsylvaniaDr. Alex Valiga, MD. is the 2023-2024 fellow in Micrographic Surgery and Dermatologic Oncology (MSDO) at Penn State Health. He grew up outside of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and received his medical degree from nearby Drexel University College of Medicine. He then completed a residency in Dermatology at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where he was elected to serve as Chief Resident in his final year. He is passionate about caring for patients with both common and rare skin cancers and deeply values the numerous training opportunities Penn State offers, ranging from medical to surgical management of cutaneous malignancies including complex reconstruction. In addition to his training in micrographic surgery and dermatologic oncology, Dr. Valiga has interests in vein medicine and has dedicated time during fellowship to develop proficiency in such skills as ultrasound evaluation of the lower extremity, sclerotherapy (both visual and US-guided), and endovenous laser ablations.
