Associate Professor of Medicine, Mayo Clinic College of Medicine, Rochester, Minnesota

Dr. Aleksandra Kukla is an Associate Professor of Medicine at Mayo Clinic College of Medicine. She holds joint appointments as a Consultant Transplant Nephrologist in the Division of Nephrology and Hypertension and The William J von Liebig Center for Transplantation and Clinical Regeneration. Dr. Kukla received her Medical Doctor degree from the Jagiellonian University, Poland.  She completed her Internal Medicine residency at Advocate Masonic Hospital in Chicago, IL, Nephrology fellowship at the University of Missouri, Columbia and Transplant Nephrology Fellowship at the University of Wisconsin, Madison.

She served as a transplant faculty at the University of Minnesota and was appointed as Medical Director of Pancreas Transplant Program prior to joining Mayo Clinic College of Medicine in 2016.  

Dr. Kukla’s research interest focuses on the long term outcomes of kidney and pancreas transplant recipients. She has co-auhtored many abstracts, publications and book chapters in this field. She is especially interested in pathophysiology, prevention and treatment of diabetic nephropathy. Dr.Kukla

Dr Kukla is a part of the ASN task force and KDIGO Controversies developing guidelines and discussing  recommendations for treating patients with renal failure and obesity. She is a Medical Director of Transplant Metabolic Program at Mayo Clinic Rochester.
