Senior Clinical Lecturer & Consultant in Diabetes, Department of Oncology and Metabolism, University of Sheffield, Sheffield, United KingdomDr. Ahmed Iqbal is a Senior Clinical Lecturer (Associate Professor equivalent in North America) and Consultant in Diabetes at the University of Sheffield and Sheffield Teaching Hospitals, UK. He graduated in 2008 with distinction and honours from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne winning the annual award for the best final year medical student. This was followed by integrated clinical-academic training in Diabetes and Endocrinology at the Universities of Bristol and Sheffield from 2008-2020.
During this period, Dr. Iqbal obtained his PhD from the University of Sheffield through a prestigious MRC Clinical Research Training Fellowship, where the focus of his work was on the relationship between hypoglycaemia and cardiovascular risk in people with diabetes.
Dr. Iqbal’s sub-specialty clinical interests are in managing problematic hypoglycaemia, novel diabetes technologies, clinical care of adolescents with diabetes and cardiovascular diabetology.
