Research Fellow, Vasculitis and Lupus Research Group, Department of Medicine, University of Cambridge; Consultant in Nephrology, ''Hippokration" General Hospital of Athens, Athens, GreeceDr. Aglaia Chalkia is currently a Research Fellow in Vasculitis and Lupus Research Group, in the Department of Medicine, University of Cambridge under the supervision of Prof. Jayne.
She has been awarded a Special Fellowship for Greek Nephrologists funded by Stavros Niarchos Foundation and supported by European Renal Association and Hellenic Society of Nephrology. Her training in Nephrology was completed in 2019 and since then she has been working as Consultant in the Nephrology Department at "Hippokration" General Hospital of Athens. She is responsible for a multi-disciplinary outpatient clinic in collaboration with the 2nd Department of Medicine and Laboratory, Clinical Immunology - Rheumatology Unit, following patients with systemic diseases and glomerulonephiritis (mainly vasculitides).
Her PhD project concerned the TGF-β/Smad Signaling in the pathogenesis of glomerulonephritis and its association to renal progression at National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, School of Medicine. Her research interest focuses on ANCA associated Vasculitis and particularly interstitial lung disease and renal histology and progression.
